Tempered Glass

Tempered glass is produced by applying a special treatment to ordinary float glass . The treatment involves heating the glass so that it begins to soften (about 620 degrees C) and then rapidly cooling it. This produces a glass which, if broken, breaks into small pieces without sharp edges. characteristic : 1. Safety:The treatment does increase the surface tension of the glass which can cause it to 'explode' if broken; this is more a dramatic effect than hazardous. 2. Heat Stability: 3 times of ordinary glass, stand a very wide range of rapid temperature changing with the endurance of 200-300C. 3. High strength: 4-5 times of the ordinary glass.
